The mission of our Family and Consumer Science programs is to prepare students to function effectively in changing family, community, and work environments.
Our curriculum provides educational opportunities that respond to human needs, future technologies, and global changes in preparing students for employment, careers, advanced study, and lifelong learning.
Family and Consumer Science enables individuals to develop skills that improve the quality of life in a diverse society.
Our social work and human services programs prepare students for employment as para-professionals and also prepare students for transfer to four-year colleges and universities to continue their studies in psychology and social work. Courses in the social work and human services programs may be applicable foundation courses for further study toward licensure as marriage and family therapists, social workers, and psychologists.
Our curriculum emphasizes performance-based training in client screening, intake, assessment, orientation, individual counseling, group counseling, consultation, client’s rights, confidentiality, crisis intervention, client education, professional ethics, reports, and record keeping.
