Redistricting is the process of reviewing census data and drawing district lines and trustee representative areas. It is done every 10 years after the release of US Census data. In addition to congressional and legislative areas conducting redistricting, California community colleges must also engage in the process of redistricting.
Los Rios Community College District has retained Redistricting Partners to provide consultative services and to facilitate the process of determining trustee area boundaries for the seven trustee representative areas.
At the December 15, 2021 Los Rios Community College District Board of Trustees meeting, Redistricting Partners provided an overview of the redistricting process, reviewed the district’s current trustee area boundaries, and discussed strategies to proactively evaluate and address any necessary adjustments to trustee area boundaries consistent with the California Voting Rights Act. At the December 15, 2021 meeting, the Board of Trustees gathered public input and provided initial feedback on potential trustee area boundary changes. The Board of Trustees will conduct additional hearings for public feedback at the January 12, 2022 and February 16, 2022 regular board meetings. These meetings are open to the public and members of the public are encouraged to participate in this process.
The following are final maps for public input and board consideration at the February 16, 2022 board of trustees meeting. After a public hearing, the board will select and adopt a final map for future Los Rios trustee elections.
The following are draft maps for board consideration and public input at the January 12, 2022 board of trustees meeting:
